Expert
After pollination one of sperm nuclei from pollen tube unites with oosphere of the embryonic sac forming diploid (2n) zygote. The other sperm nucleus fuses with polar nuclei of embryonic sac originating a triploid (3n) cell that by the mitosis will turn in the secondary endosperm of seed. The synergids and antipodal cells deteriorate after the fecundation procedure. Fecundation in these plants is independent from the water.
