IP addresses are employed to transfer information and detail across the internet. When you write or type www.ibm.com in your browser, your computer determines this friendly name in the equivalent IP Address of the IBM’s web server, and then retrieves their homepage using this IP address. While you are linked to the internet, you are allocated the unique IP address as well, that is shown at the top of this page. IP addresses are stated in the TCP or IP protocol family that is the fundamental technical foundation of internet.
