Explanation of heterochromatin and euchromatin
Give a brief explanation of heterochromatin and euchromatin.
Expert
Chromatins are uncondensed nuclear DNA, the characteristic DNA morphology in the interphase (phase of cell cycle in that the cells is not dividing itself). In this phase of cell cycle chromatin can be found as hetero-chromatin, more condensed as well as dark (in the electronic microscopy) portions of the DNA molecules, and since euchromatin, less condensed as well as lighter portions of the DNA molecules.
Since it’s uncondensed the euchromatin is biologically active portion of DNA, that is, the region which has active genes to be transcripted in RNA. The heterochromatin represents inactive portions of DNA molecule.
