Some enzymes require other allocated molecules to work. These molecules are named as enzyme cofactors and they can be, for instance, organic ions such as organic molecules, mineral salts. Inactive enzymes that aren’t bound to their cofactors are named as apoenzymes. Active enzymes bound to their cofactors are named as holoenzymes.
