Most of the vitamins are coenzymes (that is, basic substances for the enzyme functioning) which are not generated by the organism and should be received from the diet. The main vitamins required by humans are vitamins A, C, D, E, and K, the vitamins of the B complex (comprising folic acid), biotin and pantothenic acid.
