The endocrine system is said to have integrative character as the hormones generated by the endocrine glands are substances which act at a distance and several of them act in various organs of body. So the endocrine glands obtain the information from some regions of body and they may generate the effects in other regions providing functional integration for the body. Besides, endocrine system, other physiological system which too has integrative function is nervous system. The nervous system integrates the body through the network of nerves which are connected to the peripheral and central neurons. The endocrine system integrates the body through the hormones which travel through circulation and are generated by endocrine glands.
