In males, the sexual activity is regulated through the endocrine glands adrenals, hypophysis (pituitary) and gonads (testicles). The FSH or follicle-stimulating hormone released by the adenohypophysis acts on the testicles triggering the spermatogenesis. The LH or luteinizing hormone, other adenohypophyseal hormone, trigger the generation of the testosterone by testicles too. Testosterone, whose production increases after the beginning of puberty, operates within the various organs of body and it is responsible for appearance of male secondary sex characteristics like, body hair, beard, deep voice, increase of muscle and maturation of genitalia, osseous mass, and so on. Testosterone also triggers the spermatogenesis.
