The exocrine secretion of pancreas is generated in the pancreatic acini, aggregates of the secretory cells which surround the small exocrine ducts. The exocrine pancreas releases the digestive enzymes of pancreatic juice: lipase, amylase, trypsin, chymotrypsin, deoxyribonuclease, carboxypeptidase, ribonuclease, elastase and gelatinase. The endocrine liberation of the pancreas is produced and released by the small groups of cells which are dispersed all through the organ known as “islets of Langerhans”. The pancreatic islets form the glucagon, insulin and somatostatin.
