Expert
The elastic fibers are made of a protein which is named as elastin. Elastic fibers abound into the artery walls, assisting the maintenance of arterial blood pressure in these vessels. They are also present in lungs, providing them with elasticity (some respiratory diseases are caused by the destruction of these fibers). In many other organs and tissues elastic fibers are found in interstitial matrix.
