If an intermediate level of the numeric pyramid has its variable dimension decreased, which means if the number of individuals of such level is decreased, number of individuals of level below will improve and the number of individuals of level above will be decreased. That occurs since the individuals of level below will face less predators and the individuals of level above will have less available food.
