The division of homologous chromosomes takes place in the first division of meiosis, or meiosis I. Subsequent to the end of this cell division two haploid cells are formed, each containing various chromosomes (without set of homologous). Note that the cells produced after meiosis I each and every chromosome is still duplicated as the homologous chromosomes and not the similar chromatids were separated.
