In childhood deficient GH liberation generally lead to delayed growth and in severe cases to nanism (dwarfism). Excessive generation of GH in the children can cause growth of exaggerated osseous and gigantism. In the adults GH excess such as, in the hypophiseal cancer or in people which wrongly ingest GH as a nutritional supplement, may lead to the acromegaly, excessive and disproportional growth of bone extremities, such as, the skull, the hands, the maxillaries, and the feet.
