Disadvantages of analyzing web statistics

Disadvantages of analyzing web statistics:

A) The use of web caches has made it difficult to determine the true number of visits by an individual to a particular URL’s as any consequent visit would be handled by the cached pages.

B) The analysis should be clear in all aspects as to how the data will be presented, because the number of times a page is visited can be inflated and deflated quite easily as per the view of the process that the analyzer has taken. For eg. if I want to inflate my figures, any navigation within the site could also be termed as hits on the webpage, and thus a user who although visited the website once, but navigated to 10 different links, I can show them as 10 hits or 1 hit.

C) It depends on the user discretion to allow the data to be collected or not, for example if JavaScript is disabled or the cookie is deleted. Then the data may be skewed. That is even though people would be visiting the page, but the record would not be generated hence due recognition of statistics could not be achieved.

D) It has become difficult to measure human and non human traffic, thus analysis would have to keep this point also in mind. While generating the reports.
