Simple diffusion is direct passage of the substances across the membrane in errand of their concentration gradient. In the facilitated diffusion the movement of the substances is as well in favor of their concentration gradient however the substances move bound to specific molecules which act as ‘permeabilizers’, i.e., facilitators of their passage by the membrane.
