Osmosis is phenomenon of the movement of solvent particles (in common, water) from a region of lower solute concentration to the region of higher solute concentration. Diffusion, on the other side, is the movement of solutes from the region of higher solute concentration to the region of lower solute concentration. One can consider osmosis as movement of water (or solvent) and diffusion as movement of the solutes, both concentration gradient-driven.
