The female gametes are big cells filled of vitellus (nutritive material). The male gametes are little, mobile and agile flagellate cells. Those characteristics are related to their respective biological purposes. Whereas the female gametes have the essential functions of receiving the sperm cell nucleus and of storing nutrients for zygote, the male gametes have the purpose of active movement in the direction of the egg cell.
