The Endocrine gland is a gland whose secretions (termed as hormones) are collected by the blood and reach the tissues via the circulation. The hypophysis (or pituitary) and the adrenals are illustrations of endocrine glands. The Exocrine gland is a gland whose secretions are liberated externally via ducts (into the skin, intestinal lumen, mouth and so on). The sebaceous glands and the salivary glands are illustrations of exocrine glands.
