Explain the difference among routing and switching.

Routing transmits a letter or telephone call to access layer (that is, as in a street or telephone exchange). Switching composes the final delivery. A switching decision is made on the portion of the address which is not employed in routing (that is, as in the street number or last four digits of a phone number).
Beaconing: It is an FDDI frame or Token Ring frame which points to serious trouble with the ring, like a broken cable. The beacon frame brings the address of the station considered to be down.
