Axons extend by the body in nerves. Nerves are axon-holding structures presenting various axons and covered by the connective tissue. The nerves connect ganglia and neural nuclei with tissues.
Nerves may hold only sensory axons (or sensory nerves), only motor axons (or motor neurons) or both kinds of the axons (mixed nerves).
