Chloroplasts are organelles which is present in the cytoplasm of the plant and algae cells. Like mitochondria, chloroplasts enfold two boundary membranes and numerous internal membranous sacs. The major function of chloroplasts is photosynthesis: the production of hugely energetic organic molecules (glucose) from carbon dioxide, light and water.
