Expert
Ammensalism is ecological interaction in that an individual harms another devoid of obtaining benefit. Ammensalism is inharmonious (negative) ecological interaction because one participant is harmed. (Sometimes it is wrongly said ammensalism is a form of ecological interaction in that an organism releases in environment substances which harm another species; this condition is indeed an illustration of ammensalim however the concept is not restricted to it.)
One of the best illustrations of ammensalism is the one established between humans and other species under extinction due to human actions such as habitat devastation by the fires, ecological accidents, leisure hunting, and so on. Another instance is the red tide, proliferation of algae that by the intoxication can lead to death of fishes and other animals.
