Delegation of the authority

Meaning & definition: delegation is a process of sharing work and authority between a manager and his subordinates. It helps in completing the work in time, reduces the workload of the managers, and motivates and develops subordinates.

According to the Louis A Allen, "delegation is the dynamics of management. It is the process a manager follows in dividing the work assigned to him so that part which only he can perform effectively, and so that he get others to help him with what remains".

According to the Theo Haimann, "delegation means the granting of authority to subordinates to operate within the prescribed limits".
