The phylum Porifera includes the simplest creatures of the animal kingdom. Sponges are aquatic sessile beings (that is, they are not capable to move by themselves and they keep themselves joined to substrates), they do not contain tissue diversity and their bodies contain pores (feature subsequent to which their name comes). They are multicellular, similar to all beings of animal kingdom.
