A "colloid" is a chemical explanation of a gel-like suspension. Thus, colloidal minerals would be a blend of minerals found in certain form of solution or suspension. Usually, commercially-available colloidal minerals are generated from mining ancient sea beds, and then mixing the mined minerals with the water or other fluid to hold them in solution. While such products give a huge number of minerals, there is no credible scientific proof to support marketing claims for bioavailability or superior absorption. They might even encompass relatively high levels of unwanted minerals like aluminum, lead or mercury (that of course are naturally taking place), or of other contaminants.
