Define the term cephalization
Define the term cephalization? How does lateral symmetry prefer cephalization?
Expert
Cephalization is an evolutionary tendency of concentration of nervous command in the central structures in which there are group of neurons (that is, brain and ganglia formation). Evolutionarily the cephalization procedure starts with the appearance of ganglia (that is, group of neurons) in platyhelminthes and reaches an apex in the vertebrates, animals with a cranial box to defend the well-developed brain.
By lateral symmetry the body can be classified into lateral portions, inferior, superior, anterior and posterior. Such portions should be integrated and controlled in certain manner and this require stimulated the appearance of ganglial complexity and of beings with a head, an advantaged extremity of the bilateral body where the nervous central command and significant sensory organs are situated.
