Define protocol
Define the term protocol? Why are standards required?
Expert
In the networks, communication takes place between the entities within the different systems. Two entities may not send the bit streams to one- another and expect to be understood. For the communication, the entities should agree on the protocol. A protocol refers to the set of rules which govern the data communication.
Co-ordination across nodes within the network is essential for the efficient communication. In cases there exist no standards, difficulties arise. A standard offers the model or basis for the development with which everyone has agreed.
