RNA and DNA, the nucleic acids, are the molecules accountable for the hereditary information which commands the protein synthesis in living-beings. The term “nucleic” derives from the fact that they were introduced (by the Swiss biochemist Friedrich Miescher, in the year1869) in the cell nucleus.
