Define IIR filter
Define IIR filter? List some of the merits and de-merits of the FIR filter?
Expert
The filter which is developed by taking all the infinite samples of the impulse response is called as the IIR filter.
Merits :
Linear phase FIR filter may be easily developed. Proficient realization of FIR filter exists as both the recursive and non-recursive structures. FIR filter are realized as non-recursively stable. The round off noise may be formed as small in non recursive realization of FIR filter.
De-merits :
The period of impulse response should be great enough in order to realize the sharp cut-off filters. The non integral delay may lead to the problems in some of the signal processing applications.
