Customer to initiate correct testing
What type of input do we require from the customer to initiate correct testing?
Expert
The product has to be used by the customer as he is the most significant person because he has more interest than anybody in the project.
The input we require from the customer to initiate correct testing are as follows:
• The first input we require is the acceptance test plan from the customer. This test defines the whole test which the product has to go through, thus that it can go into production.
• Second thing we need is the requirement document from the user. In usual situation the user never write down a official document until he is actually certain of his needs. But at some time the user must sign saying okay this is what he desires.
• The user must also describe the uncertain parts of the project. For example, in a regular accounting project if a coupon entrance screen does not work, that will discontinue the accounting functionality fully. But if reports are not derived, the accounting department is able to use it for several times. The user is the exact person to declare which part will influence him the most. Through this advice the testers can organize a suitable test plan for those parts and test it in detail.
• The user must also give appropriate data for testing. Providing appropriate data at the time of testing is very significant. In many situation testers enter incorrect data and wait for results which are of no interest to the user.
