The cytoskeleton is a network of much small tubules and filaments distributed all through the cytoplasm of eukaryotic cells. It is made up of microfilaments, microtubules and intermediate filaments. Microtubules are made by molecules of a protein termed as tubulin. Microfilaments are made up of actin, the similar protein which participates in the contraction of muscle cells. Intermediate filaments are made up of protein also.
