Bluetooth device which is playing the role of ‘master’ may communicate with the 7 devices which are playing the role of ‘slave’. This network of the ‘group of up to 8 devices’ (1 master + 7 slaves) is known as a piconet. A piconet refers to an ad-hoc computer network of the devices using the Bluetooth technology protocols in order to enable one master device to interconnect along with up to the seven active slave devices (because three-bit MAC address is used). Up to the 255 further slave devices may be inactive, or parked, that the master device may bring in the active status during any time.
