Colors which are absorbed by plants
Name all the colors (of the electromagnetic spectrum) which are absorbed by plants. What would happen to the photosynthesis if the green light waves that get to a vegetable were blocked?
Expert
Chlorophyll absorbs all other colors of electromagnetic spectrum however it practically doesn’t absorb the green. The green color is reflected and these reflections facilitate the characteristic color of the plants. If the green light which reaches a plant is blocked and exposure of plant to other colors is maintained there would be no destruction to the photosynthesis procedure. Apparent paradox: the green light is not significant for photosynthesis.
There is a differentiation between the optimum color frequencies for two main types of chlorophyll, the chlorophyll A as well as the chlorophyll B. Chlorophyll A has an absorption peak at around 420 nm wavelengths (anil) and chlorophyll B has its main absorption in 450 nm wavelengths (blue).
