Clotting factors are the substances (coenzymes, enzymes, reagents) which are essential for clotting stages to be possible. Moreover those factors responsible for triggering and reagents  are already described (tissue and platelet factors, prothrombin, thromplastinogen, fibrinogen, calcium ions), various other substances can also participate in the blood clotting process as clotting factors, for example factor VIII, deficiency of whose causes the hemophilia A, or the factor IX, deficiency of whose causes hemophilia B.
