Beings of class Reptilia are plentiful and more diverse in hot climate areas and they are rare in intensely cold areas such as close to earth poles. This is described as such animals are heterothermic, that is, they contain “cold blood” and they want an external heat source to warm their bodies.

The heterothermic characteristic as describes why reptiles are more active throughout the day, a period whenever they can utilize the sun heat to warm their bodies.
