In brain conscious sensory information is received by neurons located in special region named as postcentral gyrus (sensory gyrus). Gyri are convolutions of cerebrum. Each of two postcentral gyri is situated in one of the parietal lobes of cerebrum.
The voluntary motor activity (or voluntary muscle movement) is commanded by the neurons located in precentral gyrus (motor gyrus). Each of two precentral gyri is situated in one of frontal lobes of cerebrum. The names post- and pre-central refer to fact that motor and sensory gyri are spaced apart in each cerebral hemisphere by sulcus centralis, a fissure which divides the parietal and frontal lobes.
