The 802.11b (WiFi) standard is generally used for the wireless networking. Bluetooth is not competitor with the 802.11b, however a complement to it. Whenever the 802.11b is a substitute for the wired local area networking, Bluetooth is generally more commonly used as the substitute for the cables between the individual devices. Bluetooth is designed to connect the devices in the very short range (up to 33 feet). Bluetooth is considered as the part of 802.15 standards.
