Beta sheet and alpha helix protein conformations

Expert
Alpha-helix and beta-sheet conformations are two main types of the secondary structure of protein molecule. According to primary protein structure its secondary structure can be of one type or other.
In alpha-helix structure the polypeptide curls longitudinally by action of hydrogen bonds forming a spiral, or helix. In beta-sheet conformation protein is more inflated and the hydrogen bonds form zig-zag-shaped protein structure which is called as B-strand. Many assembled beta-strands creates a beta-sheet.
