Operating system controls and coordinates the utilization of the hardware among the several applications programs for several uses. Operating system behaves as resource allocator and manager. Since there are several possibly conflicting requests for resources the operating system have to decide which requests are allocated resources to operating the computer system efficiently and fairly. Also operating system is control program that controls the user programs to stop errors and improper utilization of the computer.
