Schrodinger's wave equation was mainly based on the Heisenberg uncertainty principal which the position and velocity of an electron can’t be find out accurately (accurateness in one will sacrifice the accuracy in other). The Schrodinger's wave equation provides a wave function, which squared provide the probability cloud of the electrons. Thus, Schrodinger's contribution resulted in the electron cloud model of atom.
