ARP – ARP or Address resolution protocol is used in order to link the 32 bit IP address with the 48 bit physical address, which is used by the host or by the router for finding the physical address of another host over its network by sending ARP query packet which includes the IP address of receiver. Thus, it converts the IP address into the MAC or physical address. RARP – RARP or Reverse address resolution protocol enables a host to discover its Internet address when it knows only its physical address. Thus, it converts the MAC or physical address into the IP address.
