Actions of antibodies against bacteria and virus
Explain about the different actions of antibodies against the bacteria and against virus? Why the cellular immune response is activated in case of the chronic viral infection?
Expert
Antibodies of humoral immune system act against the extracellular agents, such as toxins or bacteria, but they are not active in intracellular space and they might not fight virus effectively. In case, of viral infection (and also of cancerous or precancerous cells) the immune attack is formed by the cellular immune system, mediated by the T and NK (natural killers) lymphocytes which destroy some of the specific cells and virus.
